“Shipwreck” Quinn wants to share history with you

Cape Cod’s Bill Quinn has researched, photographed and written about so many shipwrecks in the northeast that he has become known to most simply as “Shipwreck” Quinn.  And his personal experiences alone make the average historian jealous.  For instance, Bill, working as a news cameraman, was the first member of the American media to reach the scene of the Andrea Doria-Stockholm collision off Nantucket in 1956, and has the reel-to-reel camera footage to prove it.

“Shipwreck” Quinn wants to share that history with you.  The veteran historian and author - and founding member of USLSSHA – has donated signed copies of seven of his books, his entire shipwreck collection, for sale as a fundraiser for the organization.  This one time sale consists of the following titles: Shipwrecks Along the Atlantic Coast; Shipwrecks in New York Waters (with Paul C. Morris), Shipwrecks Around New England, Shipwrecks Around Cape Cod, Shipwrecks Around Maine, Shipwrecks Around Boston and Cape Cod Maritime Disasters.

The books will be sold as a complete set (four hardcover and three trade paperback), for $500, shipping and handling paid as part of the cost.  All funds will go to help the USLSSHA and its mission to preserve, the history, artifacts and architecture of the U.S. Life-Saving Service and the early Coast Guard. To purchase the books or ask any questions related to them, please contact the USLSSHA executive director, John Galluzzo, at johnjgalluzzo@hotmail.com.
